H I S T O R Y

In the heart of Washington, D.C., on the historic campus of Howard University, a group of visionary students saw a pressing need within their community. They saw young girls in marginalized neighborhoods who, despite their potential, lacked the support and opportunities to truly thrive. Driven by a shared vision of empowerment, these students founded B.E.S.T You on May 1st, 2020. Their mission was clear: to inspire young girls through mentorship, sisterhood, and confidence-building. B.E.S.T You quickly became a beacon of hope and empowerment within the Howard University community. The founders realized that their mission had the potential to reach far beyond the borders of D.C., and began an expansion program in 2022. In the spring of 2024, B.E.S.T. You recruited Jamira Collins, a dedicated and enthusiastic youth empowerment advocate and Northeastern University student. She saw an opportunity to create B.E.S.T. You Northeastern, the newest and only chapter in Boston. Through countless hours of planning, outreach, and collaboration, B.E.S.T. You Northeastern laid the foundation to bring B.E.S.T. You’s spirit of mentorship, sisterhood, and confidence-building to Northeastern and the Greater Boston area.
